Those are judgment calls, and they are easier to make with someone who has asked them before. The planning gets the same care as any other trip, with the specifics of traveling alone taken seriously rather than assumed away.
And if you would rather not be alone the entire time, a group departure can form part of the trip. Plenty of our solo travelers do exactly that.
